Locker Room Option at the Roy Hobbs World Series

It’s time to decide about the Locker Room option.

If you already know you want to participate, please go to the Pay Your Fees! page, scroll down to the Roy Hobbs section. There’s a Paypal button for the locker room option. Fee is $220 per week. If you prefer, you can send a check for $220. Address to send the check is at the top of the Pay Your Fees! page.

If you haven’t decided, read on for my sales pitch about the option.

You might be thinking, “$220 is pretty expensive for laundry service.” Well, the locker room is lots more than just expensive laundry service. Yes, you do get laundry service, but there’s lots more.

You also get access to professional trainers. They have a full service training room with hot and cold tubs. They work with you to prepare you to play, providing services like taping, massage, heat and liniment, and stretching you. They work on you after you play, providing services like ice, cold tub, and advice about how to handle minor injuries.

You also get beer, soda, water, and snacks. The snacks are pretty substantial. Usually there’s fruit (bananas, oranges, etc.)  Did I mention free beer?

But the high point, in my opinion, is the camaraderie. If you haven’t seen Lanny naked, you’re in for a treat. Oops, scratch that. You get to BS before the game about how great you’re going to play. And you get to either brag about how great you played or whine about why it didn’t work out as you hoped. Did I mention the free beer?

If you’re thinking about doing it, talk it over with whoever your rooming with or driving with. It doesn’t make sense for roomies to have one in and one out. The “out” guy would have to hang around and wait for the “in” guy. And if you’re bringing a spouse or equivalent, they have a special room for your guests to hang out. It’s in one of the luxury boxes at Lee County. They can hang out, play cards or whatever, maybe watch the game in the stadium (as if they want to watch even more baseball), and they also have free beer and soda.

So far, Lanny Ropke, Terry Gammill, Marty Hoelscher, Art White, and Robin South are in for the 60+ week. I’m waiting to hear from Jeff about whether he and I are in.

I haven’t heard about any of the 55+ team wanting to do it. Let me know if you want in for 55+.

Terry Gammill is in for the 65+ week with the Braves. I’m working on Gus and Rena, because I’d like to do it both weeks.
