2020 Update

It’s been nearly 4 years since the last post on this website. Wow, time flies!

I plan to start catching up a little, starting with most recent news and going backward in time.

About Denny

In the 73+ championship in AZ, my last game after two weeks in AZ, I tweaked my left (good) Achilles. Because of the similarity to what happened back in 2015, I went to the doc. The diagnosis: Tendinosis (aka pre-tear). The treatment: 6 weeks in a boot. Then start physical therapy.

I also had lingering pain in my right shoulder from about mid-season last. So I figured, while I was doing rehab anyway, I’d check out the shoulder. The diagnosis: Tendinosis in rotator cuff, specifically supraspinatus. Planned treatment: Arthroscopic surgery to reduce impingement in the shoulder. But when they got in the shoulder with the camera, there was a partial tear.  Fortunately, the repair was much easier and less invasive than if there was a full tear. I’m in a sling for a month. I go back to the doc on January 30. If all is right, I’ll start PT then. Target for back on the field is early May.

Plans for the spring tournaments

MSBL Palm Springs in January. No Antiques team.

Roy Hobbs Family Ties in February. I’m out. Kevin Marden plans to have a team, but this year, there will only be one team, not two. If you played last year, email me or Kevin to let us know whether you want to play this year.

MSBL Kickoff 65+ in March. No Antiques team.

MSBL Kickoff 70+ in March. I’m out for this one. But if I can find somebody to help recruit and manage the team, I’ll help with the administrative part. I’d like to have an Antiques entry if somebody steps up.

San Diego 70+ in May. Allan Green and I plan to enter a team in the new 70+ division. Personally, I’m targeting that for my return. San Diego does not allow waivers, so you have to be 70 in calendar 2020 to play.

San Diego 65+ in May. We won last year. I’m willing to help keep the under 70 part of that team together. Again, we need to find somebody to manage the team. Please let Angelo Crudale or me know if you want to play and/or manage.

Plans for the Tri-Valley league season

Tri-Valley is going through a transition. I’m helping with that transition. For more info see, Update on our Tri-Valley baseball league.
