We got two in the bottom of the first. Codany Holiday, Bill Bonekat, and Angelo Crudale all singled to load the bases. Mike Sasso’s fielder’s choice grounder drove in Holiday. Then with Mike stealing second, the catcher’s throw to the shortstop got away and Bonekat scored.
We got two more in the bottom of the second. Phil Moses, Tony Finocchiaro, and George Esposito all singled with one out. Bob Bastiaans’ fielder’s choice grounder drove in Moses. Finocchiaro scored on Holiday’s grounder that eluded their third baseman.
We batted around in the 6th. Clyde Jones led off with a single. Mike Mantia singled. Phil Moses drove in the first run with a double to left. George Esposito’s bloop might have been an RBI, but Mike Mantia was out at the plate on a close play. Bob Bastiaans singled in one run. Holiday walked to load the bases. Bill Bonekat stroked a double down the left field line to drive in two more runs. Angelo kept the inning alive by reaching on an error while Holiday scored. Sasso drove in the 6th run with another single.
It turned out that was the last scoring we did. We got a few more hits, but couldn’t put together any more big innings.
That didn’t matter because Frank Milian kept the game under control. We gave up an unearned run in the 6th. In the top of the ninth, the Wonderboys scored 2 on 4 hits and a hit by pitch. Frank got a groundout with the bases loaded to end the game.
