For those of you who have asked about where to stay in Ft. Myers…
You have two main choices – in town near the ballparks or at the beach.
The city of Ft. Myers has plenty of motels, and you can also get decent deals on condo and house rentals. Check out the Roy Hobbs World Series website for info on recommended hotels and a map of the area. If you stay in town, you will be within a few minutes from one of the baseball complexes. The complexes are about half an hour apart.
Ft. Myers Beach is about half an hour from the closest baseball complex, the headquarters at Lee County Stadium. It’s about an hour to the most distant complex at Terry Park. Many of us stay at the beach. The Seaside Resort is popular with our guys. It’s at 4770 Estero Blvd., Ft. Myers Beach FL 33931. Talk to Perry or Cheryl and tell them you’re with the Antiques. There are also regular hotels and motels on the beach. And lots of houses and condos for rent. Mike Rezzonico, Angelo Crudale, and George Esposito will be at the Seaside. The Santa Maria resort is also popular. It’s quite a bit further down the island at 7317 Estero Blvd. Clyde Jones will be staying there.
I will be at the Manatee House again. It is one of Sal Esposito’s properties. It’s at 3541 Estero Blvd., Ft. Myers Beach, Florida 33931. We’ll have Jeff, Jake, Art, Robin, and me at that house.
Please add a comment to this post to let me know where you’ll be staying in Ft. Myers. It will help me keep track of all of you. If you are looking for a roommate, include that in your comment.
I also have a Google map with the ballparks and some of the beach locations on it. Go to maps.google.com and search for “Ft. Myers Baseball Fields”.
