I’ve had the pleasure of playing two games at Laney so far. It is a great facility. The field is all turf. Batter’s box,infield, baselines are all turf. Only the mound is dirt.You can wear metal or rubber cleats, or even flats. The hops are true. The infield plays a little fast, but not too fast. The lights are very good. Even we old guys can see at night.
It can be chilly at night. Jake was cold the first night and really cold the second. On the field it wasn’t bad, but I did wear long sleeves both nights.
I drove from Palo Alto both times. I left about 5:10 the first time and had traffic getting out of PA. After that, it was smooth. I had Jake with me, so used the diamond lane. We got to Laney about 6:25. We left about 5:30 the 2nd time. We had a bit more traffic, but still got to the field by 6:45. There was an A’s game the first week, but that didn’t seem to make much difference.
I’m looking forward to playing more games at Laney.
