Jerry Emanuelson (79) and Mike McKeever (73) were the starting pitchers for the Giants and Antiques Blue, respectively. The first  3 innings were a pitchers’ duel; the score was knotted up at 1-1. The Antiques scratched a run in the first when Mike Rezzonico reached after striking out on a ball in the dirt that eluded the catcher. Rezzonico got to third on Phil Montes’ hit and scored on another passed ball. McKeever ended the first two innings by getting ground ball double plays.

Emanuelson helped his own cause by getting a hit in the third, moving up on a wild pitch, and scoring on Lou Ferrari’s hit.

That trip around the bases might have tired Jerry, though. In the top of the 4th, Montes led off with a walk. Julian Blea, Denny Brown, and Jim Kenney each singled. Zach Jones squeezed in a run. Then Jerry walked Fred Baumgartner and Pops Menise. The Giants brought in “youngster” Navarro Silver (70). Hiro Tarumi and McKeever kept the inning going with hits. Silver got out of the inning by getting Montes to fly out to Nick Marnell in left with the bases juiced.

The Giants added single runs in the 4th and 5th. Steve Owling scored in the 4th, and Walt Freeman drove in Nick DiLauro in the 5th.

Julian Blea, the youngest of the 4 pitchers in the game at 69, took over for McKeever in the 6th. The Giants put up 3 runs on 3 hits and a couple of Antiques errors. That closed the gap to 7-6 after 6 innings.

The Antiques put up 3 more runs in the 7th, but the Giants answered with three of their own in the bottom. 10-9 after 7.

The Antiques scored two each in the 8th and 9th to open the lead to 14-9. The Giants scored two and had two runners on base when Julian was able to shut the door.
