The Cardinals kept their record perfect by spanking the Antiques Red.

Line score 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H
Cardinals 3 1 4 0 3 0 9 1 3 24 26
Antiques Red 0 0 0 1 6 0 1 0 0 8 7

Some shaky Antiques defense and a clutch two-out, two-run single by Mike Hayden in the top of the first gave the Cardinals the early lead.

The Cardinals kept scoring, while Pat Carroll kept the Antiques’ bats quiet. The Antiques scratched a run in the 4th for the only blemish on Carroll’s outing.

The Antiques put together a big inning in the 5th. Gary Flores was uncharacteristically wild, handing out two walks and two hit batters wrapped around a Cardinals error. Then John Riley, Randy Cobb, and Denny Brown each got two-out singles to put up 6 runs. That got us back in the game, for a while.

The Cardinals exploded for 9 in the top of the 7th to turn the game into a laugher. Dale Skinner’s bases-loaded triple was the big hit. Scott Schaa and Ray Allen contributed doubles, and Rich Mangini had two singles in the inning.
