Phil opened the game with a single. He stole second, and scored on two infield outs. In the bottom of the inning, he gave up two hits, and struck out 3 Tribe hitters.

Phil and Kurt Simoncini each tossed 5 shutout innings, so it was 1-0 after 6 full innings.

Mike Tarens opened the top of the seventh with an infield hit. Phil, Julian Blea, and Fred Baumgartner singled to score Tarens. After a popout double play, Fred stole second and Phil stole home on the throw.

The Tribe broke through for a run in the bottom of the seventh on hits by Mike Petta and Bob Covert.

The Antiques added another run in the 8th. Zach Jones walked, and courtesy runner Art White scored on Mike McKeever’s ground out.

In the bottom of the 8th, Larry Sibilla opened with a single and Angelo Crudale walked. Denny Brown came on in relief and wriggled out of trouble without giving up a run.

In the top of the 9th, Bert Rodriques got his second hit and George Esposito added his second sacrifice bunt to set the table. With Bert on third, the Tribe walked Phil intentionally.  To complete his great game, Phil stole second and then scored from second on an infield hit by Julian Blea.
